Isnt obvious GodMark postedLook at the bible and it's fantastic stories! Some guy was able to build a boat that was big enough to hold two of every species? How did he get polar bears on this boat? How did he get Penguins? How did he stop the polar bears from eating the penguins? How did a small family care for the billions of animals every day for 40 days and nights? Look at Job. God let Satan torment his most loyal servant just to prove a point. What kind of game is that? Look at the commandments. The first three are all about worshiping God. Egotistical! How was a whale able to swallow Jonah and then spit him out again, alive? God showed up all over the place in the bible, yet in modern times no one ever sees him. No historical reference at all to support Jesus. Josephus's "proof" was proven to be fake. Isn't the truth obvious? The bible is full of inaccurate stories and there is a huge religion built around it. Doesn't make any sense. I do not see a conflict with science and God, and believe that flying above the globe must be the closest feeling to it. gillian.speke@btinternet.com repliedThe Bible is a historic story / guide book to give people living in those times insight, so they live with degrees of maturity and wisdom - by learning from other people - their mistakes, and saving graces.
Bit like soap operas today - only in ancient times, they didn't have TV - so stories are embellished to make impression on imaginations so they would be remembered. Bible then translated - rewritten... many times... Some inaccuracies occured obviously... and misinterpretations, such as God wants sacrifices... no, not blood-letting - slaying of children and animals... God could be situated in the middle of the universe and be a huge maker of matter... No, we don't know for sure... but some of us are humble enough to believe in things greater than ourselves and our limited intelligence and use of our brains. |
