My truck wont start After turned wont start noise flywheel turninggetreal1125 posted... but that's it. The Truck is a 1972 Ford f250 390 engine. I have thoughts that it might be the starter but i don't know anybody have any ideas? additional---------------------- The truck was knocking kinda hard before, so i changed the oil and it was fine for awhile untill after work i went not even a block, turned it off and it wouldnt start back up. just the noise like the flywheel was spinning... sounded kinda like the sound of a vacuum running.... im wondering if i use a chiltons if i could fix it myself or if maybe i should take it to a mechanic, which oddll enough is across the street from where it died. I just hope i didnt seal a piston to the block because the source of the noise sounds like its coming from the back fourth piston but since its so loud its hard to tell? Sponsored Link-------------------------- mdk68gto repliedif the fly wheel is turning but the rest of the engine is not... then either the crank to fly wheel bolts are missing or broken. this i strongly doubt though. if the starter turns but the engine does not, then you could have a flat spot in the ring gear or the pinion gear is worn out. on a movable pole shoe starter the motor should not turn until the pinion has made a full travel, so i doubt that the starter or the relay has failed. cmrawe repliedtry to jumpstart it kelly_f_1999 repliedstarter
