Look at windows web site and it will say how fast it transfers information. WIth 3gb of ram you need to get the 64 bit home premium system. The 64 bit will use the 3gb of ram fully the 32bit will only use about 2.65 with the factory settings ont he OP system. Ya you need a dual core!!! A single core is slow and you cant play any good games wiht it. If you want a fast runnign computer you need a good graphics card (nvidia 8800gts, nvidia gtx260, or ati 4800 series cards) And about 3 to 4 gb of ram. charlie replieda little bit faster, just a little. i have vista and it is all that.. i cant even play pychonauts on it. miha repliedWhat do you mean "the speed"? if you re talking about the speed of say pushing on a start button, it will fly. but about games, well, i'm not good at ati, but dual core will be great! also, for vista, 3 gigs is very nice! but to comparing to xp, for me xp is always way much better - i upgraded and now i want to get it back! so if you can, get xp, if not, try to search it on ebay Philip T repliedNo matter what hardware you have the bottom line is that Vista is more resource hungry than XP. Then again XP required more than Win2K, & Win2K required more than Win98, etc .... Don't get me wrong ... I use Vista & love it, however, any PC (including mine) will run XP faster than it does Vista. Will it be much of a difference ? It depends on things like your video card's GPU & enabling or disabling the Aero feature (for example). You certainly have enough RAM. What is your CPU .... if it's a Celeron, forget it. If it's an AMD or P4 you'll be fine. regards, Philip T Matty L repliedVista is slow than XP, however it is well worth it because other extra features and it looks better.
