Many diabetics often have it in between meals, say a tablespoon on a cracker or piece of whole grain bread to help maintain blood sugar levels. Too much of one type of any food is bad for you. Your body needs balance because the cells have different nutrition requirements for organ function. Protein is the main ingredient and whole fats are good for heart health. Of course, use common sense. The nice thing about a protein such as peanut butter is that it helps you be less hungry because an enzyme that controls hunger is triggered when you eat protein which can make you feel full faster, than if you ate, say, just vegetables and fruit or other carbs. Your blood sugar levels, whether or not you are diabetic, stablize for longer periods of time in between meals. That is why many physicians tell their patients to include it in a bedtime snack when they are using insulin. Protein is needed for muscle tissue maintenance. Remember: Your heart is also a muscle. Hope this helps. diva repliedtoo many PBJ isnt good...high in fat, carbs, and calories....I eat them maybe once every 2 months(cause i dont really like them)......
