Chuck Palahniuks Lullaby QuestionLucid Dreaming postedIn it there's a quote by the character: Oyster: "The way you can go to Paris or Beijing, where there’s a McDonald hamburger, this is the ecological equivalent of franchised life forms. Every place is the same place. Kudzus, zebra muscles, water hyacinths, starlings, Burger Kings, the local natives. Anything unique gets squeezed out. The only biodiversity we’re going to have left is Coke versus Pepsi. We’re landscaping the whole world one stupid mistake at a time." What does he mean "the only biodiversity we're going to have left is Coke versus Pepsi?" What does that have to do with biodiversity? Moreover, I disagree in a way because although Coke and Pepsi own quite a few things, when it comes to most food products they're a very similar good and therefore it wouldn't make sense to have something different from a competitive market for those goods. additional---------------------- "the only biodiversity we're going to have left is Coke versus Pepsi?" What does that have to do with biodiversity? Is one of my important questions of this. I want a good answer on that. You can go to Japan and drink coke while enjoying KFC. The world's differences are being glossed over in favor of a global system of wealth and power. You do have to remember though that Oyster is the crazy man who wants the lullaby to use against people and is being hunted at the end of the book by both of the central characters. cool_gal repliedI can't make head nor tail of ur question.
Are you protesting against the oyster or coke/pepsi |
