Question icing callBob Loblaw postedYour team is getting hammered in it's own end and you block a shot that fractures your foot, your teammate picks up the puck and ices it the length of the ice for the icing call.......face-off comes back to your end and you are not allowed to make line changes on the icing call. So......is there an exemption of some sort for an injured player? Or, would you have to play SH for a second ..... or would he have to suck it up? What's the deal? additional---------------------- Leafer...that's what I was looking for. Idn't dat fulish b'y! additional---------------------- I figured as much...it's a pretty new rule though (last year me thinks?) so I wasn't sure. Leafer-Dont hit me stem repliedyup there is-injured players can be replaced according to- section 81 of the Official rulebook 81.4 Line Change on Icing - A team that is in violation of this rule shall not be permitted to make any player substitutions prior to the ensuing face-off. Should the stoppage of play following the icing infraction coincide with a commercial time-out, or should the offending team elect to utilize their team time-out at this stoppage of play, they are still not permitted to make any player substitutions. However, a team shall be permitted to make a player substitution to replace a goalkeeper who had been substituted for an extra attacker, to replace an injured player or goalkeeper, or when a penalty has been assessed which affects the on-ice strength of either team. The determination of players on ice will be made when the puck leaves the offending player’s stick. TB repliedThey make exceptions for injuries. ooploon repliedif your injured just fall down to the ice and don't move. the ref will stop the play and you will be escorted off the ice. don't be afraid to look pansy in front of teammates, because it could be a serious injury and its better for it to get looked at then get worse because you couldn't swallow your pride.
