Would transmission tune fix problemGoldilocks postedI have a 95 Chevy Lumina. My speedometer started flipping out yesterday, it was bouncing back and forth while I was driving on the interstate. I have been having problems with the cruise control..when I am using it my car shifts really hard if that makes sense. Now, when I am not in cruise my car seems to have a hard time shifting sometimes. My bf suggested that I get a transmission tune up, but I don't want to waste the money if my transmission is going to go out anyways. Any suggestions of whats up?

Hal Atosis repliedTake your car to a reliable mechanic and ask him. designergenes repliedThis car is new enough to have electronic instrumentation and programming for its automatic transmission. I had a voltage regulator fail on a similarly equipped vehicle, causing it to exhibit these symptoms and more. The voltage regulator on that car was a module attached to the alternator. Replacement of the combined units (not sold separately) fixed it. Take the car to a Chevrolet dealer.
If it's the problem, this would be an inexpensive fix compared to an automatic transmission rebuild. |
