What isnt radiationYourWelcome6006 postedIf radiation is defined by the following: In physics, radiation describes any process in which energy emitted by one body, travels through a medium or through space, ultimately to be absorbed by another body. Then, isn't sound and light radiation? What is and what isn't radiation THANK YOU Sponsored Link-------------------------- tick tock repliedlight is radiation, from microwaves to heat to visible light to ultraviolet to xrays and gamma rays, its all light... we also got alpha particles, which are helium nuclei and beta particles which are electrons. that is basically it... a few exotics... cosmic rays... i don't think sound qualifies because it is just a wave propagated thru a medium. dcno02 repliedWell, I think that Wikipedia article you quoted (without attribution) describes it pretty well. Radiation "radiates," i.e. it travels from a center outward, along a radius. Sound and light are forms of radiation. That article discusses light, but not sound. I suggest you read the article and some of the links at the end of the article. Briefly, if it is energy and it travels outward along a radius from the source, then it is radiation.
