Where I passportLauren postedAnd are there any requirements I need to get a passport, or can anyone get one? I'm over 18 and haven't broken the law or done any drugs. Thank you for any help :) Sponsored Link-------------------------- Raven repliedYou can download and print the forms and instructions for filling them out, as well as search for the locations near you that accept and process the applications at this website: http://www.travel.state.gov Happy traveling! Saiila repliedIf you are a US citizen, you need to go to your local post office and ask if they do passports. If they don't they will tell you the closest location where you can get your passport. You will need 2 2x2 pictures. Some usps locations will take your picture for about$15 or you can go to your local drugstore walgreens/cvs and they can take your picture for about $7. You will also need to bring a driver's license or state ID, and your birth certificate along with your passport application. You can get the application at the post office or you can print it online and fill it out. Your passport will cost you $100. You should receive it about 3 weeks after you apply for it. John B repliedany post office will have the forms you need and instructions, takes about a month so don't delay if you need it soon. you can also download the forms and instructions from your government web site. just search "passport" you'll find it Kristah repliedin philippines, we have to go to DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS to have our passport. madd:) repliedFor starters, you can go to the post office. They will probably be able to take your picture for it, but if not, your local drugstore probably will be able to take the picture for you... or at least they do in my town in MN. You'll have to fill out the form. I'm not %100 percent sure, because it's been 3 or so years since I got my passport. . . but they will either take care of it at the post office or you can take it to the courthouse and they will take care of it. If I remember right, it costs either 50 or 100 dollars. Mary L repliedIn addition to what the other people have said, you should know that for a first passport you will need to prove your citizenship via a certified copy of your birth certificate. A baptismal certificate or paper from a hospital of birth is NOT acceptable. You can get a certified copy of your birth certificate from the county in which you were born, or from the state office of vital statistics (or vital records) in the state where you were born. That office will be in the state capitol, and you can find the addresses, etc. very easily by tapping "birth certificate" into your search engine. There is no central national place to get your birth certificate. Now, sometimes it can take a bit of time to get the birth certificate, so don't wait to get it! Also, it will cost anywhere from $5 to $20 for the first copy you get, but generally the fee for extra copies requested at the same time is a whole lot less -- maybe $2 to $5 more per extra. Thus, it is worthwhile to get more than one copy, and just tuck the extra into your safe deposit box. If you happen to live in the county where you were born, it will be quicker and less expensive to get your certified copies from the county registrar -- call the county switchboard and they'll direct you to the right office. When you get your certified copies, don't try to run one through a photocopier to try to use that for the passport application, because your photocopy will not be accepted! (And most states use a kind of security paper for certificates that has special watermarks, color blends, textures, security threads, etc. And most of that paper will make photocopies that say "copy" all over the copies. Interesting stuff!) So -- if you don't already have a certified copy of your birth certificate, get it! Molly repliedYou get them at the post office. You have to take identification and a picture suitable for the passport. You can get the photo taken at a drugstore- at least we can here in Chicago. Brian repliedCall the US Postal Service. They have many offices in which you can get a passport.
