Why God 6 days create EarthTruth Fairy {Atheati} postedIf he's as all powerful as they say he is then why couldn't he have just made everything at once in one moment. Why did it take him so long? And why did he need to REST!? additional---------------------- Derek: Oh sorry is it wrong to question? I'll just go on not thinking then. additional---------------------- PurpleNurple: But he's GOD! He should be able to do it. If I'm not allowed to question the bible then that proves that you Christians really don't think. Sorry that I have a brain. Its not my fault. additional---------------------- Shinigami : Why did it take him that long? Why does he need to rest that long!?!?!? Sponsored Link-------------------------- Monica V repliedDuring the reformation period, that was the big debate. Theologians thought, just as you, that if God was all-powerful that he would not need six days, but just one. This is the exact opposite of theistic evolutionists who say that their god created everything over millions of years gradually. Yes, God certainly COULD do whatever he likes, whenever he likes. The reason for the six days is because each day represents something significant to come. Specifically, the 7th day which represents the 7th millennium of earth where Christ will reign for a thousand years. Despite any other reasons, if one is to be a bible believer, the issue of scriptural authority comes into play. Exodus 20:11 (King James Version) 11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. You'll have to decide whether or not you believe it for what it says, or whether you want to "doctor it up" to make it match what you think happened. God was there and I wasn't. Since I'm trusting Jesus for my salvation, I'll have to trust His spirit that tells me about that salvation, as well as the creation and everything else he deemed necessary enough to put in that Book. Marcy repliedMaybe he got a little lazy. Seek the truth repliedBecause we are made in God's likeness The week lasts 7 days. We humans need one day rest per week...That is the way it is He could have made it in one second but chose 6 days. He is all powerful after all Pull My Finger repliedHe's eccentric. You know how artists are. Shinigami (FAC) weeaboo repliedSince the first 6 days took 4.5 billion years, little do we all know that God is still on the 7th day, and is STILL resting. edit: hang on a tic, and I'll ask Him. ah, he said that rest is His natural state, and the 6 days of creation were rather unusual for Him. I think there was an event that occurred that He knew would happen, but He had to create anyway. It's part of His nature. That's the closest I can get. Jon-knee repliedDo you believe you can do it faster? Ѧashiq_Ѧl_Ѧgnostic repliedHe had met his answer limit for the day, so he decided to make the earth whenever that happened. He got to level 5 on the seventh day. Derek B repliedDude, why are you always questioning things? Just let it be. mom 2-2 repliedDear, Dear, you are not questioning the bible, you are trying to make fun of it. I do wish God had taken a little longer on you though, maybe some more brains. Nicholesta repliedFirst thing. Don't take Genesis literally. A day is a division of time. We call a day the length of time it takes for our world to rotate once on its axis. If you lived on Mars a day would take 39 minutes longer. On the moon it would take nearly a month of our days. When the world was being created there was no world to measure time by. So to think that God took 144 hours to create the universe is ridiculous. We have no idea what God calls a day. Genesis doesn't break it into hours or specify which planetary rotation to go by. Obviously God didn't stand on the planet Earth when he created the planet Earth. God took 6 divisions of time to create the universe. Whether that was 6 seconds or 600 billion years is really anyone's guess. It doesn't matter how long it took since it is a feat we cannot even comprehend the complexity of. When one of us creates a universe we will be in a position to judge and ridicule but until then doing so is rather ridiculous. As to a rest afterward I suppose he rested because he felt like it. He didn't have a schedule or an impatient boss telling him his coffee break was over. If you feel that god took too long or didn't deserve a break then build your own universe next time. No one is stopping you and if you do better you can sneer at God all you like. lilndngrrl501 repliedI heard that the time was/is different in heaven. What we consider to be a day may not be what is a day in God's time?? mysterious570 repliedBecause he chose to do his work then sit back and look at it. As the Bible says and he saw that it was good after each days work. He also may have wanted to make sure every thing was just so. Spanky G repliedNeeded to pack a cone, I guess. Jayson j repliedYeah, the bible does blow and suck at the same time. Yet people believe in it, go figure. Wonder how long it took nim to make every other planet in our solar system and then all other planets in the universe? Stupid religion, ban it now before it goes too far. PurpleNurple repliedthe bible says not to question god. you are going to hell. by the way i would like to see you make everything in an instant and not need to rest. fortheimperium2003 repliedHe used it as an example for us to follow, God being God could create the universe in an instant of time (or faster). It was an example for us to follow. work 6 days and rest on the 7th. 6 LITERAL 24 hour days. Why? As you can see from todays world, we NEED to unwind at least one day a week or we become psychotic basket cases. If more people would observe the 'Sabbath', there would be less divorce, suicides, and bad santas shooting people and burning their house down. When the bible says to 'remember the Sabbath, and keep it holy', it was not some stick on the side of the head to make us go to church, but a day of enforced rest so we don't burn ourselves out. Within the human race is a drive to constantly achieve, and strive to do more and better, and we need to take a break from it once in a while. Shackle Free Strike Up The Music repliedNow you purport that 6 days is a long time.... He created the earth in 6 days because that He how He decreed it. He rested to indicate that man is to rest not because He (God) was in need of rest. Yes, He could have made everything immediately and then you would be here asking why He didn't take His time. Happy New Year - may it last 365 days :) Lord Vardarac (STFU) repliedSon, that just the way he DO Remy loves Don't Panic repliedhe was too busy drinking lol Ray G repliedHe set the physical process in order and let nature take its course. The six days represent eras of time, not literal days, and the day of rest is yet to come. We are still in the evening of day six. waseemnfl repliedANSWER TO YOUR FIRST QUESTION: the six days in which the earth was created are totally different from our normal days. The simple evidence for this is that our normal days have been created after creating the heavens and earth. Allah says in the Qur’an: “Say: Is it that ye deny Him Who created the earth in two Days? And do ye join equals with Him? He is the Lord of (all) the Worlds. He set on the (earth), mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measure therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four Days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (Sustenance).”(Fussilat:9-10) These six days may be referring to six spans of time that are known to Almighty Allah alone or six periods that has nothing to do with the solar system or to six stages that has elapsed and with whose length we are not acquainted. As for why Allah has created the heavens and the earth in six days while He was able to create them in one second or even less, we are to know that Almighty Allah is Omnipotent and whenever He wants something He just says to “Be” and it is. Allah says in the Qur’an: “And Our word unto a thing, when We intend it, is only that We say unto it: Be! and it is.”(An-Nahl:40) ANSWER TO YOUR SECOND QUESTION: He did not rest on the seventh day, because He did not get tired. Allah is perfect He does not get tired, nor does He sleep, eat, go to the bathroom, feel pain, or die for that matter. Piet Pompies repliedThis is the biblical story, written by a man who made it up. He probably did this to show his imagination, but more probably because he wanted to enhance his standing in his community as a wise, old man. The story was incorporated into what became the bible by Constantine who chose certain books revered by the Jews and rejected others. He wanted to bring a universal belief into his cities which tended to be Christian, and his rural populations who tended to be unbelievers and pagan. No god made the earth. arch9angel repliedhe didn't want to rush it and since he is all powerful he can rest when he wants to. Dillinger repliedexhausting work creating stuff (at what point would god pass out from exhaustion i wonder?) Tom J repliedProve that it took him 6 days... I don't believe it.
